Bill Maher has addressed the backlash over his recent comments about Stan Lee's death. The Real Time HBO host was scorned by fans of the late Marvel icon after he wrote a blog post calling into question Lee's legacy and even going as far as blaming him for Donald Trump's election. Lee's company, POW! Entertainment, called Maher's comments "disgusting."

Maher was a guest on Larry King Now and defended his comments: "I am agnostic on Stan Lee. I don't read comic books. I didn't even read them when I was a child," the HBO host said.
Maher told King in an interview that he didn't even know people were mad about his comments because he "doesn't follow every stupid thing people lose their shit about" on social media. "But talk about making my point for me: Yeah, I don't know very much about Stan Lee and it certainly wasn't a swipe at Stan Lee," Maher said. Maher continued, "Yeah, fine. I am agnostic on Stan Lee. I don't read comic books. I didn't even read them when I was a child. What I was saying is, a culture that thinks that comic books and comic book movies are profound meditations on the human condition is a dumb fucking culture. And for people to get mad at that just proves my point."
What I find dumbfounding is Maher claiming that he didn't even know there was a backlash happening because he "doesn't follow every stupid thing people lose their shit about" on social media." Wouldn't he have to be living under a rock to not know people were pissed off at his comments? At the very least, his entourage must have mentioned it to him.
