Disney plans to name CEO Bob Iger’s replacement in early 2026. A The Wall Street Journal report has EA CEO Andrew Wilson as a major contender for Iger’s job. Wilson is said to be up against at least two other external candidates. The Aussie-born Wilson has been at EA for 24 years, with 11 of those as CEO.
Wilson makes sense in terms of gaming currently being a growth area for Disney, but he has practically no experience with film, television, and theme parks. This would be a risky hire on the part of the Mouse House.
Meanwhile, The InSneider is reporting that Disney, a company that typically promotes from within, have also been looking into parks chief Josh D’Amaro and TV boss Dana Walden. However, one familiar name seems to also be in the running, and that’s Universal Chairman and CCO Donna Langley.
