We can add another project to Ridley Scott’s upcoming slate of films in development, but this one might actually be shot very soon, and it would bring him back to very familiar territory.
Scott, 86, tells Film Stories that after he shoots his Bee Gees biopic in early 2025, he will be directing a "mystery sci-fi film," adding that “it’s already written” and “up next.” Could this possibly be the ‘Alien’ film he hinted at yesterday to THR?
I’m skeptical that it’s another ‘Alien’ movie since I believe the film he was referring to during the THR interview was Fede Alvarez’s ‘Romulus’ sequel, which he is producing. Otherwise, what could it be? Scott hasn’t delved in the sci-fi genre since 2017’s “Alien: Covenant.”
This also means that being put in the backburner, for now, are Scott’s other seven projects currently in development, including “Gladiator III,” “Freewalkers,” “Bomb,” and a Battle of Britain movie. The man’s a workaholic.
