Tarsem, director of “The Cell” and “The Fall,” still hasn’t found distribution for his 2023-premiered film “Dear Jassi,” which premiered at TIFF to strong reviews. He hasn’t let the current limbo status of that film slow him down as he’s already hopped onboard his next project.
It’s just been announced that Tarsem will be directing the Tennis-set thriller “The Journeyman,” and that Dev Patel will be tackling the lead role. Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios will produce and fully finance the project.
Scripted by Bryan and Alexis Roberts, “The Journeyman” is the story of a struggling pro tennis player who is lured into an illegal match-fixing ring to support his family and finds himself trapped in a ruthless world of corruption and violence he may never escape.
Patel, who is coming off his directorial debut, “Monkey Man,” has acting credits that include turns in “The Green Knight,” “Lion,” ‘Slumdog Millionaire,” and “Hotel Mumbai.” Production on “The Journeyman” is set to start next year.
