Count me in as someone that approves of Christopher Nolan, a man known for his self-seriousness, being a fan of the hilariously dumb 2010 comedy “MacGruber." Nolan recently told Business Insider“ I’ve been outed in the past as a ‘MacGruber‘ fan and I have to say there are a couple of moments in that film that had [me] howling uncontrollably.”

It feels like yesterday that Joel Schumacher’s bomb-tastic “Batman and Robin” showcased a Batman suit with hard nipples and Ah-Nuld’s thick Austrian accent as Mr. Freeze. It was campy stuff, but then came Christopher Nolan to the rescue with 2005’s “Batman Begins,” and the rest, as they say, is history.

Christopher Nolan's Mysterious New Movie Said To Be Globe Spanning Sci-Fi About Time Continuum; ‘North By Northwest' Meets ‘Inception'?
There have been many rumors as to what Christopher Nolan’s next film, set to be released in 2020, would be about, with many rumors having been debunked already. People have been shooting these rumors left and right and, hoping one of them sticks, and yet, we still don’t what the damn thing is about. All we know is that the screenplay is so secretive that its star, Robert Pattinson, had to be locked up in a room to read the damn thing. He couldn’t bring a physical copy home.

What do we know about Christopher Nolan’s upcoming new movie? Well, not much really. We know that it is set to be released in July of 2020, that the script has been written and production is slated to commence later this year and that, today, “BlackKklansman” star John David Washington was cast in the lead role. The last bit of news was confirmed by Variety’s Justin Kroll who also mentioned that “one insider described the pic as a massive, innovative, action blockbuster, which will again be shown in Imax.”
I just wrote this on Facebook:
I was a fan of BlackKklansman, but Washington, Denzel's son, didn't particularly strike me as being an out-of-this-world talent that merited a leading role in a Christopher Nolan movie. Then again, you don't really need to "act" in a Nolan movie as much as just be a part of the narrative gimmick that he sets up for his actors. Don't get me wrong, I do love many of his movies, but they are not what you might call "acting showcases.”
Christopher Nolan’s Latest Described As “Romantic Thriller"; ‘North By Northwest’ Meets ‘Inception’
There aren’t many directors that, just by their name associated with a movie, can bring audiences into theaters. There’s Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Clint Eastwood, and, of course, Christopher Nolan.

Christopher Nolan’s next movie will be an IMAX event movie scheduled for summer 2020, July 17, 2020 to be exact. That’s according to a press release by the filmmaker earlier on Friday.
We know NOTHING else about the title or plot of the project. We don’t even know the genre he will be tackling, especially since Nolan went out of his comfort zone with his last film, 2017’s ‘Dunkirk,” which earned $526.9 million worldwide, and received Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Nolan’s first Best Director nod.
‘The Dark Knight’ Cinematographer: “It’s kind of shocking that it ended up being PG-13”
Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” is now 10 years old. I wrote about this important anniversary earlier this summer, but it seems like the op-eds just keep on coming.
Vulture has published an article on that now infamous pencil trick scene, which had Heath Ledger’s Joker making a pencil "disappear" by jamming it into a gangster’s head. The film's cinematographer Wally Pfister, speaking to Vulture, believes that that scene alone should have gotten the film an R-rating.

15 Rare On-set photos of Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight"
I had read an interview somewhere where Heath Ledger said he went to Jack Nicholson for advice on the Joker role, in that meeting Nicholson said that the best advice he could give him was not to get eaten by the role, that it was a powerful character and he could easily fall into its trap and get stuck in it, just like, supposedly, Jack himself almost did. Now, if anyone believes that that was what consumed and eventually killed Ledger is very much up for debate, but there's no denying that ledger was REALLY into his character.
Prior to production, Ledger locked himself in his hotel room for a month preparing for the role. During this stint of almost six weeks he wrote in a journal and practiced different voices for his character. In this creepy Journal, written during his time of isolation, there were in-character ramblings and inspirations. He also included photographs of hyenas, clown make-up designs, joker cards and even stills from A Clockwork Orange, which is a movie Nolan recommended Ledger watch to prepare for the Joker. Some of the writing contained in the journal was from the perspective of the Joker, including a list of suspicious things he thought were funny like AIDS, blind babies, landmines and smart people that suffer from brain damage (don't ask). On the cover, the words THE JOKER, with the picture of an elephant and a man on a checkered floor. The last page of the journal had the words “BYE BYE” handwritten in large letters.
Back in 2008 I wrote this about the movie and Ledger's performance:
"If you haven't heard of Christopher Nolan's soon-to-be classic "The Dark Knight" then you don't live on this planet or are completely oblivious to what's going on in pop culture. Nolan along with an A-list cast headlined by Christian Bale as Batman and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker make sure to to haunt your dreams with this movie. Many have evoked the film as a post-9/11 depiction of a world gone to hell. They might not be far off. Bale's caped crusader needs to lower himself to the depths of evil in order to make good triumph. As for Ledger's Joker, he feels so real and intense that you feel uncomfortable whenever he appears on-screen. It's one of the great movie performances of our time."
