It’ll be interesting to see how well the Oscar ratings go down this year. Maybe, just maybe, the appearance of nominated films “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Avatar: The Way of Water” will pave the way for a bump in numbers.
Meanwhile, the SAG Awards fared very poorly last night. They were not televised but available to stream freely on YouTube, where they gathered just 440k views. Less than half a million people were watching.
For some reason, “The Nanny” herself Fran Drescher was elected the new SAG president and her welcome speech was, umm, a trainwreck. No one laughed or clapped during it. Especially with a potential union strike looming, tension was in the air.
Next year, the ceremony is moving over to Netflix streaming. So, we’re probably not going to be getting any numbers from them.
