DanielRPK and TheInSneider are both reporting that Ryan Coogler’s upcoming vampire flick, starring Michael B. Jordan, might be titled “Damned.”
Another title also seen as a possibility is “Sinners.” Warner Bros is set to decide very soon on the official title, mostly because they want to attach a trailer for the film to October’s “Joker: Folie a Deux.”
Coogler/Jordan’s film, which recently wrapped production, is set to hit heaters on March 7, 2025. This is one hot project that sparked a bidding war in February. Warner Bros finally landed the rights. The budget is said to be around $90M.
Although details on the film have been scarce, the plot is rumored to revolve around Vampires going to war against Ku Klux Klan members. That actually makes sense given the setting of the film, which is set smack dab in the middle of ‘30s Jim Crow South, during the height of the Klan
Jack O’Connell is playing the “racist white villain” in the film, which centers on vampires, with dual twin roles for Jordan, and filmmaking that is said to be heavy in “anime influences.” Hailee Steinfeld and Delroy Lindoy have supporting roles in the film.
Coogler, the filmmaker behind “Creed,” “Fruitvale Station,” and “Black Panther,” is said to have franchise aspirations for Sinners/Damned, the goal is to turn it into an IP — which is part of the reason why studios seemed so keenly interested in acquiring it before Warner Bros. finally won the rights.
