Jonah Hill returns to the director’s chair with the Hollywood-set dark comedy “Outcome,” which is being produced by Apple Original Films.
Keanu Reeves was already set to star in “Outcome” and now Deadline is reporting that Cameron Diaz is close to being added to the cast. Diaz recently came out of her 10 year retirement to star with Jamie Foxx in the upcoming Netflix comedy “Back in Action” (which is being released later this year).
“Outcome’ is based on a script Hill co-wrote with first-time screenwriter Ezra Woods. The film focuses on Reef (Reeves), “a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.”
Hill last directed the 2018 skateboard drama “Mid90s” for A24. It garnered good reviews, and I found the film to be a slight, but wholly authentic coming-of-age movie. It’ll be interesting to see what Hill has in store with this next film which seems to be veering far away from the slice-of-life approach of “Mid90s”. Expect “Outcome” to start shooting very soon.
