Puck’s Matt Belloni is confirming Jeff Sneider’s original scoop that Scarlett Johansson is in talks for the lead role in Gareth Edwards’ “Jurassic World” movie. Belloni adds that Jennifer Lawrence’s team had originally engaged in discussions with Universal for this role before the actress finally decided to pass on it.
As you can imagine, Universal is trying hard to set all the necessary pieces in motion for Gareth Edwards’ “Jurassic City” to attain its summer 2025 release date. A July 31 production start is already scheduled, David Koepp has almost completed the script and now it looks as though a cast is being assembled for the film.
This latest ‘Jurassic’ film is said to be a fresh new take, with former castmembers Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return, nor the original trilogy’s Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill. They’re, supposedly, scratching off nostalgia for something brand new.
No word yet on whether Edwards’ ‘Creator’ and ‘Rogue One’ DP, Greig Fraser, will be lensing the ‘Jurassic’ movie, but he’d be one hell of an addition to this project.
