UPDATE: A promising update. We have a director for this project!
Henry Dunham is writing and directing “Enemies” for A24. Dunham’s debut was “The Standoff at Sparrow Creek,” released seven years ago, and he hasn’t directed a single thing since then. “Enemies” will be Dunham’s sophomore effort.
Synopsis: Near the tail end of World War 2, an American POW escapes certain death at a concentration camp and makes a run for the southern Allied border, but is pursued by a determined Nazi soldier.
EARLIER: This is the first I heard of this project. If anyone has more details then please contact me. For now, we just have details coming in from the production unit.
A24’s “Enemies,” starring Austin Butler and Jeremy Allen White, has hit pre-production in Chicago with a schedule of 30 filming days later this summer. I don’t see this project having been announced anywhere else — no word yet on who the director attached might be.
The plan is for a June shoot in the Windy City.“Enemies,” which has a $25M budget, is being referred to as a spy vs. spy thriller. Right after White’s FX show “The Bear” wraps filming Season 4, many of the crew members will be rolling right into working on this A24 project.
I’ll try to look into more details about this one, especially who the director might be, but as we speak, White and Butler aren’t supposed to shoot anything until the fall and have to promote new movies in late August (“Caught Stealing”) and September (“Deliver Me From Nowhere”).
