The 96th Academy Awards ceremony was held last night at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, and, as is always the case, year in and year out, the “In Memoriam” portion of the show was again botched with key names missing.
The “In Memoriam” segment was already being criticized for the odd camera angles, obscuring names and faces, seemingly more concerned with focusing on the Andrea Bocelli performance going on stage. It also forgot some key names that sadly passed in 2023, including Lance Reddick, Norman Lear, Lance Reddick, Terence Davies and “Euphoria” actor Angus Cloud.
Why can’t they ever get this part of the show right?
Remember last year when a justifiably angry Mira Sorvino called out the Academy for not including her late father Paul Sorvino during the In Memoriam tribute? It wasn’t just Sorvino, Philip Baker Hall, one of the great character actors, was also forgotten. Ditto Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore and Mike Hodges.
