It looks like nobody knows what Christopher Nolan’s next film is going to be about, not even one of its lead actors, Tom Holland. Unless, he’s lying.
With plot details have been kept a secret, and the script under lock and key, it turns out that despite having signed on to star, Holland is, much like us, out of the loop on what he will actually be filming.
“To be perfectly honest, I don’t really know what it’s about,” Holland recently told “The Dish” podcast. “I’m super excited, but it’s been pretty quiet about the project. I met with [Nolan] and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll announce what it’s about”
Holland recently confirmed that he accepted to star in Nolan’s movie “sight unseen.” Even without seeing a script, the actor said getting the offer from Nolan to star in his new film was the phone call “of a lifetime,” and that he wouldn’t dare pass on it.
What other filmmaker has this kind of power in Hollywood? To amass a cast, including Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Matt Damon, without having had them even read a script?
We’ve only had speculation about Nolan’s next one; Gizmodo was saying that Nolan’s it’s 1920s set Vampire movie. Variety reported that it might actually be a spy movie. THR heard rumblings of a “father-son” story. Grace Randolph said that it was a “horror film.” Meanwhile, a Reddit rumor suggested that it might be an action movie influenced by 1983’s “Blue Thunder.”
Deadline and THR’s sources ended up reporting that plot descriptions of the film published to date have “all been “wrong” and none “have come close” to nailing what Nolan is concocting with this latest film of his.
