UPDATE: THR is reporting that Madison has passed on the role.
EARLIER: According to The InSneider, rumors are swirling that Mikey Madison, fresh off her Oscar win for “Anora,” may be stepping into the world of Star Wars.
Sources suggest that the actress is being considered for a major role in Shawn Levy’s upcoming untitled Star Wars film, which is expected to feature Ryan Gosling in the lead.
Reportedly, casting is underway for several key roles, including a 15-year-old protagonist, his mother, two antagonists, and another significant female character — the latter of which Madison has been approached to play.
However, discussions are still in the preliminary stages. As I reported earlier, Madison is also weighing an offer for a role in Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’ reboot at Sony, which will star Austin Abrams. It's unclear whether the schedules for both projects overlap or if Madison will need to choose between them.
Still, landing a part in a Star Wars film is a dream gig for many in the industry, and there’s reason to believe Madison may lean toward accepting Levy’s offer. Then again, we’re still living in the era of Kathleen Kennedy, and I’m not entirely sure if Madison would want to delve into to that.
At just 26, Madison has already built an impressive resume. Her standout role in “Anora” not only earned her an Academy Award, but has opened the door for many opportunities coming her way. What project will she choose? If I were her, I’d opt for Cregger, but that’s just me talking here.
