Earlier in the week, it didn’t come as much of a surprise to hear that Marvel Studios’ “Blade” had been nixed from the release calendar and wouldn’t be coming out on November 7, 2025.
After many attempts, which saw plenty of writers enter and exit the project, the latest “Blade” draft, written by Eric Pearson, was said to be the most satisfying one to date. Pearson is, at least, the sixth writer to have taken a crack at the script after Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto.
Daniel Richtman is now reporting that they are now working on a brand-new script for “Blade,” but there’s no mention as to whether or not Pearson is still onboard. The film was originally set in the 1920s, but Pearson’s draft pushed it to present day — will they keep it that way? Nobody knows. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.
The project, which still has no director attached at the moment, is aiming or a 2025 production start. We’ve already had two filmmakers exiting the film, Yann Demange and Bassam Tariq. Marvel is currently meeting with potential candidates, and according to Jeff Sneider, might have zeroed in on someone.
