Clint Eastwood was not in attendance for the world premiere of his “Juror #2” last night at AFI Fest, but early reviews are hinting at a good film. It currently stands at 75 on Metacritic (based on 4 critics reviews).
Variety, Screen, Deadline, THR, IndieWire (A-) and Punch Drunk Critics are positive. Meanwhile, The Arizona Republic is currently the only negative review. Most of the writeups hint at another old-school film from Clint, without much flash, and driven by strong storytelling.
Eastwood is 94, and “Juror #2,” which many claim will be his last film, is only getting released in 50 theaters nationwide. There won’t be a wider expansion. I guess this is an improvement upon Warner Bros’ initial strategy for the film which was to dump it straight on their Max streaming platform.
“Juror #2” stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Kiefer Sutherland, JK Simmons, Chris Messina, Zoey Deutch, Gabriel Basso and Leslie Bibb. The film is set during a murder trial where one of the jurors, a “family man,” slowly realizes he killed the victim in a reckless-driving accident and tries to save the defendant without incriminating himself.
