A THR interview with Michael Mann states that his upcoming “Ferrari” has a budget of $110 million — that’s $20 million more than originally reported.
“Ferrari” is a risk-taking endeavor, but I can’t imagine it making its money back. It’ll have to get a major push from critics and maybe some awards buzz to become semi-successful. The THR interview mentions Mann’s “stress levels” about “Ferrari” and how it’s entirely possible that his ability to film “Heat 2,” will depend on how well “Ferrari” does.
“Ferrari” will be released on December 25th. Mann’s last film, 2015’s “Blackhat,” was both a commercial and a critical disappointment — earning $19.6 million worldwide against a budget of $70 million.
