Legendary Hollywood producer Jon Peters, 79, is telling THR that he’s working with Oliver Stone on a film about the Trump assassination attempt. What’s odd about Peters’ assertion, which he swears will happen, is that Stone quickly denied any such project exists.
In August, just a month after the attempt on Trump’s life, Stone confirmed that he was working on “one more ambitious film.” Stone would not divulge what this “final” project would be, nor would his new pub team elaborate. If I had to guess, it would no doubt be, like many of his films, highly political.
I’d like to, I think I have one more in me. I do have a narrative film in mind, but I can’t tell you what it is […] I know you’re going to ask that. But it is an important narrative. I’d like to have one more film if I can get it done. It’ll be done in the next year, that’s for sure.
Among Peters’ claims to THR are his assertions that Joe Biden arranged for the attempted assassination of Trump at the infamous July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Peters tells THR that “They may put a hit on me… not in the form of a bullet but in the form of the IRS” because he’s working on a movie about the event with Stone.
Oliver is an amazing writer, and I’m a good storyteller. … I haven’t pitched it to anybody, [but] Netflix would be a perfect, perfect place.
Stone, 77, hasn’t directed a narrative feature since 2016’s “Snowden,” which garnered mixed reviews. His last few non-doc releases include 2008’s “W,” 2010’s “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” and 2012’s “Savages.”
