The ‘Scream’ franchise’s sixth instalment was a success at this year’s box office, which meant that another one of these movies was inevitably going to happen.
While ‘Scream 7’ hasn’t yet been officially announced by Paramount, Bloody Disgusting confirms that it’s definitely in the works and that, if there’s no actors strike, it could be shooting as early as this fall.
The last instalment’s directors — Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett — won’t be back, but Christopher Landon (“Happy Death Day”, “Freaky”) is in talks to direct. In terms of quality, I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference — the Scream franchise has always had a specific formula to abide by.
I haven’t dug a ‘Scream’ movie since the 1996 original, but I did find things to like about ‘Scream 4.’ That’s the best thing I can say about this franchise. Oh, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong in having Melissa Barrera come back for this seventh one, just sayin’.
