Harmony Korine secretly directed a new film for A24 with rapper Travis Scott. Titled “Aggro Dr1ft,” the action-oriented film, starring Scott and Jordi Mollà, was shot entirely in infrared.
There is currently no plot synopsis available for the 80-minute “Aggro Dr1ft,” but the first production still has been released by Venice — it can be seen below. As you can clearly see, the “shot entirely in infrared” part was no joke. Korine will be going all-out with this one.
Scott signed a production deal with A24 back in August 2021. The rapper announced the deal by posting on Instagram a coffee and blood stained script with the title redacted. Except, now we’re hearing A24 has nothing to do with this film.
A year later, Scott posted two Instagram stories with the caption “body armor, guns, masks, and Harmony Korine”. The image released has all of those things in it.
Korine is an American filmmaker known for some transgressive, taboo-busting films that shaped American indie cinema in the ‘90s. Korine’s ubiquitous style, an eschewing of traditional form and narrative, can definitely turn some people off.
Some of his earlier films were hallmarks of the ‘90s indie underground scene, I’m thinking particularly of his 1995 script for “Kids,” “Gummo,” and “Julien Donkey-Boy.”
“Aggro Dr1ft,” is set to be his first film in over four years. Korine is coming off two of his most “commercial” movies: 2013’s “Spring Breakers” and 2019’s “The Beach Bum.”
