The first reactions are in for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” with critics calling it “an actual work of art” and “darker” than the last one. Of course, it’s the usuals weighing in with their thoughts, we’ll wait and see what other critics think.
The anticipated sequel to 2018’s critically-acclaimed “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ picks up over a year after the events of the first film.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, the film’s voice cast also includes Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Karan Soni and Daniel Kaluuya.
I found the first film, ‘Into the Spider-Verse,’ to be a visual treat, groundbreaking in its animation, but wasn’t as big of a fan of the storytelling. it did look wholly unique, as if a comic book was ripped from the pages and spread onto the screen.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is set to release in theaters on June 2.
