The entire David Lynch interview in this month’s Cahiers du Cinema is worth a read. He goes through his current state of mind and why he stopped doing those weather reports on YouTube.
When the topic of how Los Angeles inspired his “Mulholland Drive,” Lynch ends up name-checking a film that you would never even think he’d have seen.
“Tarantino’s [“Once Upon A Time in Hollywood”] shows how real life events could have turned out very differently. It’s a hell of a good revenge movie, done in feel good fashion.”
Well, there you have it. Despite his insistence that he doesn’t watch that many new movies, Lynch happens to be a fan of Tarantino’s last film.
