Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up” is not only a massive hit for Netflix, but it’s also a movie that mainstream audiences seem to be liking. It’s not that surprising that a populist movie with an A-list cast has become a major streaming hit, but audiences seem to be genuinely liking it.
A 77% audience score on RT, and a 7.3 on IMDB is nothing to feel ashamed about. Contrast that with its 55 rotten rating and a 53 on Metacritic.
No matter how dreadful the reviews were, McKay’s film was never out of the Best Picture race. McKay is a director for whom critics always have darts ready to throw at every time he has a new film out. It’s the total opposite when it comes to his peers in the industry, he’s just a well-loved guy whose been around for now close to 25 years, as a director of comedy and drama, and has produced many big hits.
“Don't Look Up” is now #1 in 88 of 89 countries... it is only #2 in India.
