In a 09.30.21 piece titled “Is Paul Thomas Anderson Still The Current 'Master' of Cinema?” I named the 10 best directors working today — one of the ten was UK filmmaker Steve McQueen.
With a resume that includes “Hunger,” “Shame,” “12 Years A Slave,” and “Lovers Rock,” it’s always exciting to find out what this former visual artist turned director will do next. His last project was the ambitious “Small Axe” anthology series for the BBC which was composed of five films.
According to Deadline, McQueen will be back doing feature films with “Blitz.” Although no plot details have been divulged, McQueen is set to write, direct and produce “Blitz,” based on his own original idea. Production is supposed to begin next year.
