Spike Lee‘s “Da 5 Bloods” was the top vote-getter in our Best of 2020 critics poll. Lee’s Vietnam drama edged out Eliza Hittman’s “Never Rarely Sometimes Always” and Leigh Whannell’s “The Invisible Man” in second and third place, respectively.
It’s quite obvious, and needs to be said, that the current cultural and political climate was a factor in critics supporting Lee’s film. “Da 5 Bloods” has a 92% Rotten Tomatoes rating compared to a 53% audience score. The film has a 6.6 rating on the IMDB.
Here’s a poll-focused discussion between Jeffrey Wells and myself, recorded on Sunday morning.
