The Producers Guild of America just shook up the Best Picture race as they have revealed their 2020 PGA Awards nominations in both film and television. This sets up, quite nicely, the Oscars.
The 10 nominated films this year are “Parasite,” “1917,” “Ford v. Ferrari,” “The Irishman,” “Jojo Rabbit,” “Joker,” “Knives Out,” “Little Women,” “Marriage Story” and “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.”
Of course, one or two of these movies will have to be sidelined when Oscar nominations are announced on January 13th. There are usually 7-9 spots reserved for the Best Picture category, depending on aggregates and percentages in voting, so, if I were a guessing man, I would bet “Little Women” and “Knives Out” will ultimately get the shaft, but, hey, who knows.
This is very bad news for snubbed films such as “The Farewell,” “The Two Popes” “Rocket Man” and “Bombshell.”
The PGA Awards will be handed out on Jan. 18 in Hollywood.
