Report: James Gunn's 'Guardians 3' script will be used, Warner Bros. interested in hiring him

Earlier this week Dave Bautista had mentioned that if James Gunn's script for "Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3" wasn't used then he'd quit his contract:
“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

Rumors coming from Omega Underground were indicating that Gunn's script would be offed and that Disney and their creatives were to write a new screenplay for "Guardians 3." However,  THR, is now reporting that Disney are indeed planning in using Gunn’s script, but that he still won’t be rehired as director.

They note that Gunn is currently in complicated negotiations with Disney over his exit. They estimate the firing might have Gunn exiting the mouse house with around $7 million to $10 million in his pockets, if not higher.

THR is also reporting that Warner Bros. is very interesting in speaking to Gunn about some upcoming projects, but that the director is not permitted to entertain such offers while exit negotiations with Disney are ongoing. Warner Bros, of course, owns the DCEU and it would be quite amusing to see Gunn jump ship and basically bring his meta style, which has been the blueprint used for most MCU films post-Guardians, to DC films. The DCEU has been trying to find a new look and style to better their product for the masses. Gunn might be that answer.
