People have been asking me why I'm not covering the Cannes films ahead of my appearance at the fest next Monday, it's simple: I usually try to not look or hear details about the movies ahead of the fest and just let the screening surprise me as the movie unfolds before my very eyes, For now, I know absolutely NOTHING about the plot for any of the movies in the official competition. Isn't that how moviegoing was meant to be in the first place? An experience filled with surprise?
