Christopher McQuarrie To Direct 'Edge Of Tomorrow' Sequel, Work On Script Underway
I liked "Edge of Tomorrow", it was a sci-fi "Groundhog Day". It didn't make much money, but I think that's because people are just creeped out by Tom Cruise these days. It's a genuinely great movie and executed in such smart, artfully mainstream manner. I've always liked Tom Cruise, he's a great actor, but I know that his reputation has been significantly hit by his whole Scientology diatribe this past decade, but if you look past all that and just focus on cinema he's done some pretty incredible work in his career: "Rain Man", "Born On The 4th Of July", "A Few Good Men", "Risky Business", "Magnolia", "Jerry Maguire", "Minority Report", "Collateral", "The Color of Money", "Eyes Wide Shut" and -of course- his sleazebag Hollywood producer in "Tropic Thunder". The guy has real talent. His pal Christopher McQuarrie, who directed him in the last "Mission Impossible" and "Jack Reacher" + is known as the writer-director of "The Usual Suspects", will helm the sequel.
