Todd Phillips, Last Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix are currently shooting “Joker: Folie à Deux” in Los Angeles until April. Some photos and videos have leaked online.
These are all outdoor shots, but the sequel is said to mostly take place in Arkham Asylum. It could still technically be a dream sequence or a flashback.
Grace Randolph reported last week that ‘Folie A Deux’ will tell the story from the perspective of both characters: Harley and The Joker. The film’s main plot will revolve around the music therapy sessions they both have in Arkham Asylum.
Apparently, the music style of ‘Folie A Deux’ is heavily inspired by Liza Minelli's musicals, such as “Cabaret” and “That’s Entertainment!”
On Valentine’s Day, Phillips posted on his Instagram a first look at Phoenix and Gaga in “Joker: Folie a Deux.”
Phillips mentioned that the inspiration for “Joker” was “Taxi Driver,” and you could clearly see that watching the movie. Whereas, ‘Folie A Deux’ is said to be influenced by Scorsese’s 1977 bomb “New York, New York” starring De Niro and Minelli.
The first “Joker” made $1 billion dollars worldwide. The fact that this sequel is a musical starring Lady Gaga makes me think that maybe it won’t be as popular a film as the first one. Just a hunch.
