Director Matt Reeves Says 25% of ‘The Batman’ Was Shot Before Production Shutdown

Last month, production was abruptly halted on Warner Bros.’ upcoming DC film, “The Batman, of course, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its writer-director Matt Reeves, speaking to Deadline, is now admitting that roughly 25% of the film has been already shot.

TIFF Boss Hints That the Festival is Working on Possible Online Edition For September

Yesterday I was told by a friend from Toronto that festival head Cameron Bailey was thinking of going digital with the Toronto International Film Festival, that is if we are still not recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic by September. At first, I thought that was a strange way of going about things, especially since TIFF is a festival platform that is, first and foremost, a major launchpad for big studio Oscar contenders. I doubt that studios like Sony, Warner Bros, A24 and Disney would want to risk piracy by premiering their films via a screener link platform.

China Orders All Movie Theaters to Re-Close As COVID-19 Cases Creep Back into the Country

The Chinese government had re-opened hundreds of movie theaters in their big metropolitan cities just four days ago, well, clearly, that was a bad idea. Due to the COVID-19 virus slowly creeping back into the Chinese mainland, China’s film bureau demanded that the 500 movie theaters that were re-opened must shut down immediately [Via Variety]. The official reason why is still unknown, but many are speculating that Chinese authorities are aware of a potential second wave of coronavirus cases about to strike China in the next few days.
