Forget about the physical transformation that Christian Bale had to make to become Dick Cheney in Adam McKay's "Vice," Yes, the 44-year-old Welsh actor gained 40 pounds to play Dubya's Vice Prez, we expect that from the legendary Welsh method actor. No, this role isn't just an impersonation, it's a genetic inheritance, a cloning, if you will. He carries McKay's film with a towering performance that will be talked about for ages.

Dick Cheney Biopic ‘Vice' Screened For Critics In L.A.; Christian Bale Leaps to the Top of Best Actor Race

Yesterday's first screening of Adam McKay's "Vice" (in L.A.) has led to the the first wave of critical reactions for the film (positioned to be released by Annapurna on Christmas day.). The tweets say that Christian Bale is great as Dick Cheney and that the film is a risky, bold take on the conniving  Vice-President's 8-year stay at the White House. However, judging by the reactions, it seems like some are quite hesitant in calling "Vice" a great movie. I've read and heard lots of "there's a lot to ponder," type of responses.

Christian Bale as Dick Cheney revealed in first ‘Vice’ trailer

There are only three Oscar contenders left to screen for the press; Mimi Leder's Ruth Bader Ginsberg biopic "On the Basis of Sex," Bryan Singer's Freddy Mercury biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody," and, most importantly, "The Big Short" director Adam McKay's Dick Cheney/Bush-years film "Vice."

The latter finally has a trailer.
