Ever since some of the trades reported that Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla”, Jeff Nichols’ “The Bikeriders”, Marco Bellocchio’s “The Conversion” and Kiril Serebrenikkov’s “Limonov” were not going to Cannes, I’ve been doing some detective work and asking around to see how accurate this intel was.
I found out Bellocchio is still very much considering Cannes. Serebrenikkov is a maybe. Nichols, I haven’t heard anything. As for Coppola’s film, it is indeed not finished, so, it’s true, it won’t be headed to the Croisette this year.
“Priscilla” wrapped its production in December. Coppola is said to have started post on the film in January. Given the March deadline submission for Cannes, you can understand why this film might not be ready.
Some on-set photos leaked had leaked last week. They showed Elvis and Priscilla Presley, husband and wife, strolling outdoors. The film is based on the memoir “Elvis and Me” by Priscilla Presley. It stars Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi as Priscilla and Elvis.
Born Priscilla Ann Wagner in 1945, she was 14 when she met 24-year-old Elvis during his military service in Germany. They ended up getting married in 1967, and had one daughter, the late Lisa Marie Presley.
A24 will distribute “Priscilla”. Coppola is reteaming with her longtime collaborators, including Cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd, and Editor Sarah Flack.
