There’s no denying that Eddie Murphy is a unique talented. It’s also not much of a stretch to admit that he hasn’t really pushed himself that much as an actor in recent years. Murphy has been mostly coasting it in middling sequels like “Coming 2 America,” and “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.”
With that said, here comes word that Murphy will star in “Blue Falcon,” described as a “two-hander action comedy” (via Deadline). Sony Pictures acquired the script by Chad St. John (“London Has Fallen”).
Murphy will play a “retired superspy, headed for the resort wedding of his estranged son, who somehow finds himself in proximity with his arch rival.
At least this isn’t a sequel. “Blue Falcon” is an original story. I’m just wondering what’s going on with Murphy’s other, more enticing, project, his reteaming with director Bill Condon on a biopic of Parliament-Funkadelic singer George Clinton (via Deadline). The project, backed by Amazon/MGM hasn’t been picking up much steam since announced more than 8 months ago.
