The Wrap is reporting that Edgar Wright’s “Running Man” remake is set to shoot in November. Of course, as with all projects these days, Glen Powell is set to star as the lead.
Wright has mentioned, many times, that if there ever was one movie that he’d love to remake then it would be “The Running Man,” which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. Here’s the synopsis:
Set in 2025, the story follows a man named Ben Richards while he participates in a deadly game show, called The Running Man, which sees him declared an enemy of the state and hunted by a ground of murderous hitmen
According to The Wrap’s sources, with knowledge of the project, Wright’s movie “is a more faithful adaptation” of Stephen King’s novel, which was originally made into a 1987 action flick starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Wright is coming off the worst-reviewed film of his career: 2021’s “Last Night in Soho.” He still has a fairly large base of supporters, having helmed such films as “Baby Driver,” “The World’s End,” “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs The World” and “Shaun of the Dead.”
