Sony‘s R-rated “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” did $5.9M yesterday at previews, only 8% off from the previews of 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life,” which did $6.3M. According to Deadline, it’s now looking at a $40M opening weekend.
Demos, which change throughout the weekend, were 36% Black, 29% Hispanic and Latino, 20% Caucasian, 10% Asian, and 4% other. Men over 25 were dominant at 40% followed by women over 25 at 38%.
"Bad Boys: Ride or Die" scored a strong 5-Star and 88% positive on Screen Engine and PostTrak. “A” CinemaScore incoming? Every ‘Bad Boys’ movie, so far, has nabbed an “A” on CinemaScore, so it might as well be a given that this one will as well. Audience reception is very good for ‘Ride or Die.’
People who claimed Will Smith’s career was over after the slap might have been a tad overreaching. Yes, this is a franchise movie, but the narrative was that people might not be turned off by Smith after his infamous Oscar moment. His next big test will be the “I Am Legend” sequel, which is still being written by Akiva Goldsman.
