It’s become practically a cliche for trailers to have slowed down remixes of popular songs. The latest one is the trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance” which uses David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” to showcase the action in this latest Sony-produced tackling of the sentient alien symbiote.
For some reason, the first two ‘Venom’ movies were very popular with audiences. The first one grossed $850M worldwide, the second earned around $560M. This third chapter, presumably the ‘Last Dance,’ has Tom Hardy’s Eddie/Venom on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo needs to somehow survive their enemies.
“Venom: The Last Dance” stars Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham. The film is directed by Kelly Marcel from a screenplay she wrote, based on a story by Hardy and Marcel. If you don’t know much about Marcel, she wrote the first two ‘Venom’ flicks and was the main screenwriter on “Saving Mr. Banks” and “Fifty Shades of Gray.'“ ‘The Last Dance’ is her directorial debut, so we’re expecting a masterpiece here.
This third ‘Venom’ is scheduled to be released on October 25, 2024. Sony is banking hard on this one especially, since a few months later, ‘Kraven’ gets released and might lose them a lot of money, much like “Madame Web” and “Morbius” did earlier.
