David Lynch is teasing “something is coming along for you to see and hear” on June 5. I’m not getting my hopes up, but any new project by Lynch is well worth keeping an eye out for. Maybe it’s a short film? Music video? I doubt it’s a feature.
Last month, Lynch confirmed that what was supposed to be his next project, “Unrecorded Night,” had been scrapped, at the last minute, by Netflix. The streamer also rejected a pitch for an animated film of his, titled “Snootworld.” Not even this master can get a project going these days.
It’s been seven years since Lynch’s Showtime series “Twin Peaks: The Return” blurred the line between television and cinema. He’s been teasing at more ‘Twin Peaks’ to come, but he just turned 78 and the clock is ticking. It’s hard to believe, but Lynch hasn’t actually directed a feature-length film since 2006’s “Inland Empire.”
