Whether you like it or not, this film is happening. Director Ali Abassi (“Holy Spider,” “Border”) shot a film about Donald Trump and it’s premiering at Cannes.
We now have our first look at actor Sebastian Stan, transformed into Trump, for the upcoming film “The Apprentice”. Stan can be seen sporting Trump’s wispy, sandy blond hair while Jeremy Strong’s Roy Cohn sits next to him. Maria Bakalova is Ivana Trump.
“The Apprentice” started production on November 29th and wrapped up sometime in early February. A quick turnaround to somehow complete post-production and submit it for Cannes. They really rushed this one.
In a way, a movie about Cohn would be just as fascinating, if not, more so, than one about Trump. If you don’t know much about Roy Cohn then I’d recommend you Google him, he was a man with the seediest and strangest of reputations.
“The Apprentice” will follow Trump from his twenties through his late thirties, and examine his efforts to build his real estate empire in New York over the course of the ’70s and ’80s. There will also be some digging into his relationship with, his infamous attorney, Cohn.
Here’s the official synopsis:
An exploration of power and ambition set in a world of corruption and deceit. It’s a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of an American dynasty. Filled with larger than life characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.”
”The Apprentice” is turning into one of the most oddly anticipated films of 2024. C’mon, admit it, you’re at the very least … curious about this one.
