“True Detective” creator, turned-hater, Nic Pizzolatto will be directing his first film, the indie drama “Easy’s Waltz.” I can confirm that production on the feature will begin next month in California.
The film is set to star Vince Vaughn, Michelle Monaghan, Al Pacino and Simon Rex. Pizzolatto also penned the script. Margot Hand is producing. This will be Pizzolatto’s first project since his “Blade” reboot script got scrapped by Marvel.
The film, which is being described as “Swingers” meets “A Star Is Born,” will follow a down-on-his-luck comedian-crooner navigating modern Las Vegas with old-school Vegas personalities, and his own self-destructive brothers.
If you remember, Pizzolatto had originally teased a pitch for the fourth season of ‘True Detective,’ back in 2019, but he suddenly left the project. Issa López took over, but not without Pizzolatto being vocally against what she created in this last season.
