Yesterday, Disney had leaked out that the first trailer for “Deadpool and Wolverine,” which premiered Sunday during the Super Bowl, had broken the record for the most-viewed movie trailer ever, within a time frame of 24 hours, with 365 million total views.
It, supposedly, dethroned previous record holder, and fellow Marvel movie, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which had 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours back in 2021. However, it turns out that Disney passively lied about the numbers. It was all bullsh*t.
What Disney did was include the 123 million people who watched the Super Bowl into the trailer views. Very sly move on their part. The actual ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ number is 232 million views, way short of Spidey’s record.
It’s too late though, Disney won the PR battle, there are barely any outlets reporting on the cooked-up numbers. Instead, all the articles about ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ “dethroning” the all-time views record are still there, remaining in their original published form.
