Jennifer Kent’s “The Babadook” celebrated its 10th anniversary with a theatrical re-release in September. Her sophomore effort, 2018’s “The Nightingale,” which won a prize at Venice, was also met with positive reviews.
It’s been six years since ‘Nightingale’, but Kent is finally ready to delve into a new project. She recently told Gizmodo that her next film will be announced imminently, and that it’s based on a “very well-known horror book.”
I can exclusively report that the film will be an adaptation of Clive Barker’s classic novel “The Thief of Always,” which is currently in the advanced stages of development. You can expect this one to be officially announced very soon.
“The Thief of Always” is a 1992 novel written and illustrated by Barker. The plot concerns a 10-year-old boy who journeys to a magical house, only to discover its master uses the home to attract children and steal their youth to ensure his own immortality.
