Sony Pictures Japan is seemingly teasing a Venom crossover in ‘Spider-Man 4.’ Whether this would done purposely, or is a glaring error on their part, is still up for debate.
On November 8th, the Japanese affiliate of the studio issued a press release by providing general information about ‘Spider-Man 4’ production, release date, and director. However, most folks have zeroed in on the second paragraph …
"Tom Holland, who plays Peter, has already given his stamp of approval to the story... Is Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie in the 'Venom' series, ready to take part?"
Sony's “Venom: The Last Dance” is still playing theatrically and was supposed to be the final sendoff of the character, played by Tom Hardy in three ill-received movies. ‘The Last Dance’ has so far grossed an estimated $129.4M domestically and $437M worldwide.
The fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise stars Tom Holland, who is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) will be directing the upcoming sequel, stepping in for Jon Watts, the previous director of the first Spider-Man trilogy.
Hardy recently praised Holland as “the best Spider-Man” and showed his enthusiasm, saying, “I would like to work with him. If someone needs me, I’d be happy to participate.” It looks like his wishes may have just been granted.
“Spider-Man 4” is set to arrive on July 24th, 2026.
