Another quiet week at the box office, and it’ll be the last one for a while as a slew of blockbusters are about to be unveiled in the next few weeks. With that said, Sony’s “Venom: The Last Dance” took advantage of the lack of any competition by staying on top at the box-office.
The third and final entry in the ‘Venom’ franchise pulled in an estimated $16M in its third weekend – bringing its domestic total to $115M. However, its $400M worldwide total is further proof how popular this movie really is overseas, especially in China where it has become a cultural success.
As far as the new releases go, “Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and A24’s “Heretic” are practically tied for second place, with both on track to take in $11M. ‘Pageant’ might have the slight edge, but it’s currently too close to call. “The Wild Robot” ($6.7M) and “Smile 2” ($5M) completed the top five.
Meanwhile, “Conclave” ($4.1M) continued its hot streak and has so far amassed $21M domestically, surpassing its $20M budget. Sean Baker’s “Anora,” which has a small budget of $6M, went wide this weekend and pulled in $2.5M, its current worldwide total sits at $13M.
