Boots Riley's ‘I Love Boosters' Set to Star Demi Moore, LaKeith Stanfield, Keke Palmer & Naomi Ackie

October 8, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Back in May, I had reported that Boots Riley was going to shoot his next film, titled “I Love Boosters,” and that Keke Palmer was part of the cast.

We now have additional actors joining “I Love Boosters.” Deadline is reporting that Demi Moore, Naomi Ackie, and LaKeith Stanfield are also set to star. The film is bound to start production this month.

Riley turned some heads at Sundance with his 2018 debut “Sorry to Bother You,” a madcap vision about corporatist America. It was a wonderfully original statement, despite some minor flaws, and it introduced Riley as a filmmaker to watch out for.

Last year, Riley helmed the critically acclaimed Amazon series “I Am Virgo” — another surreal exercise in style. Earlier this year, Riley told the NYT’s Kyle Buchanan that he was going to shoot his next film

“I Love Boosters,” Riley’s sophomore effort, revolves around a ring of female shoplifters, lead by Corvette, called the Velvet Gang. They survive on “boosting” clothing items from department stores. However, their next target, the CEO of a designer brand, has just ripped off Corvette’s idea, and she absolute needs to pay, sparking an unintended “revolution.”

Neon is producing “I Love Boosters.” Waypoint Entertainment is financing the film with NEON and Waypoint's Ken Kao (Co-Founder) and Josh Rosenbaum (Partner) are serving as Executive Producers on the film. Expect a theatrical release in 2025.
