If I wasn’t worried, and in fact excited, by Leigh Whannell’s “Wolf Man,” this trailer is a tad concerning. The CGI seems a little off, which isn’t surprising given the budget of this Blumhouse horror cheapie is supposed to be in the $20M range — Whannell shot “The Invisible Man” for a paltry $7M.
“Wolf Man” seems to lean hard on the body-horror aspect of the story which tackles the slow process of Christopher Abbott’s character turning into the monster. The film, which stars Julia Garner, Christopher Abbott, Sam Jaeger and Matilda Firth, was recently described by Whannell as a “straight up horror movie.”
Back in March, Universal announced that “Wolf Man” would delay its original 2024 release by three months and would now open wide on January 17, 2025. It had previously been scheduled for a pre-Halloween release on October 25, 2024. Production on “Wolf Man” wrapped in May.
