Jonathan Majors’ “Magazine Dreams” is back on the market. Nearly a year after Searchlight Pictures bought the well-reviewed drama at Sundance, they have returned the rights of the movie to the filmmakers, who will now shop it around to other buyers.
I get it, Disney has a brand and image to protect, However, there is definitely an audience out there for this film. I’d go as far as to say that interest has only grown for it these last few months — multiple indie distributors will most likely make an offer, if they haven’t already.
It’s a real shame that ‘Dreams’ director Elijah Bynum had to go through this ordeal, but he finally has the film back in his possession. His “Magazine Dreams” was celebrated at last year’s Sundance, especially Majors’ blistering performance as an an oddball bodybuilder starving for connection and slowly losing his mind
