Above is our first look at Austin Butler in “The Bikeriders” …
If you’ve followed my spitballing of the Telluride Film Festival then not many of the titles, in the just-announced lineup, come as a surprise. All the main titles are indeed there.
Three weeks ago, I had it confirmed that Jeff Nichols’ “The Bikeriders” would have its world premiere at Telluride, and that’s the one title most people are zeroing in on this morning. Nichols’ film is not set to screen at any others festival.
I had also mentioned how “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “The Killer” would not be going to the Rocky Mountains. A real shame, if you ask me. Also missing are Venice and NYFF selections “Maestro,” “Ferrari” and “Priscilla.”
Rather, of the main titles that will be screening at Telluride, the ones to pay attention to are “Saltburn,” “All of Us Strangers,” “Poor Things,” “The Bikeriders,” “El Conde,” “Fingernails,” “The Holdovers,” “Janet Planet,” “Nyad,” “Rustin,” “The Promised Land,” “Fingernails,” “The Royal Hotel” and “Wildcat.”
Julie Huntsinger, executive director of Telluride, notes Andrew Haigh’s “All of Us Strangers,” starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, as a major standout in the festival’s lineup. “It’s the one I just can’t get over how outstanding it is.”
