On Friday, I asked our readers to vote for the best Martin Scorsese film of the 21st century. Close to 1700 votes were tabulated. No surprise, “The Wolf of Wall Street” came out on top.
1) The Wolf of Wall Street (473 votes)
2) The Departed (350 votes)
3) The Irishman (293 votes)
4) Silence (219 votes)
5) Shutter Island (128 votes)
6) The Aviator (82 votes)
7) Gangs of New York (74 votes)
8) Hugo (44 votes)
Scorsese's sprawling, flawed, but, ultimately, brilliant "The Wolf of Wall Street" has become one of the most timely movies of the last decade. It’s also, probably, the best performance of Leonardo DiCaprio’s career.
With some scenes veering towards slapstick comedy, ‘Wolf’ was a somewhat divisive movie upon its release, but has gained notoriety over the last ten years years and will continue to do so as an American movie classic.
