Disney’s 100-year anniversary keeps getting better and better … if you thought “Elemental” and ‘Ant-Man 3’ were bad, well, they look like hits when compared to the Indiana Jones debacle.
The price tag for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” has been, countless times, reported to be $290 million. Deadline’s Anthony D'Alessandro says it’s actually $329 million.
The film has so far made $130 million worldwide. The claim is that, for Disney to break even, ‘Indy 5’ will have to make around $822 million. It’s got a long way to go to recoup all of that money. I’m betting that it won’t.
This could turn out to be a bomb for the ages. Right now, “Lone Ranger” and “John Carter” are the only films to have had estimated losses of over $200 million. ‘Dial of Destiny’ might join the club.
