Jim Caviezel is making the press rounds, sitting down for chats promoting his hit “Sound of Freedom.”
In a particular interview, he talks about Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ” sequel, in which he’s set to reprise his role as Jesus, and he claims that it’ll be split into a few movies:
“I asked him [Gibson] would you be ready to go in January, he said “yeah, maybe.” I said “how about the end of fall,” he said “yeah, maybe.” So who knows […] it might be two films, maybe three, but I think it’s two.”
In another interview, Caviezel says the ‘Passion’ sequel “will be the biggest film in the history of the world,” adding, “Mel [Gibson] took me through all of the scenes and I was on the floor crying […] it’ll be one of the best things you’ve ever seen. I can’t tell you [when it’s coming out]. If I told you I’d have to kill you.”
Caviezel has been no-holds-barred in these interviews. It’s very entertaining to watch. He probably feels on top of the world right now as his “Sound of Freedom,” originally dumped by Disney, made more money on July 4th than “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”
Back in January, I had heard that Gibson was finally, very close, to shooting “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection,” a mid-year shoot had been planned. Now we’re looking at maybe fall, the earliest, but it’s coming.
Gibson is supposed to shoot “Flight Risk” starring Mark Whalberg. During his promo tour, Caviezel indicated that the film was close to starting production, if it hasn’t already.
